First, make sure you have a CAC reader that is compatible with your Mac by visiting the USB Readers or USB-C Readers page. Some legacy versions of Mac OS X provided a partial support for CAC cards. So many CAC readers that might work well with Windows run into problems with Apple software and products. If you prefer using a Mac to a PC, it can be difficult to find the right CAC card reader to work well with your machine.
